Welcome to Noe Valley

Once a working-class neighborhood for families, Noe Valley has gone through several waves of gentrification and is now considered a very upscale neighborhood for professionals with families.

The Neighborhood

Located just south of and over the hill from the Castro District, Noe Valley has the feeling of an upscale small town – close to yet separate from the rest of noisy San Francisco life. Due to its hilly geography, there are no through streets, except Dolores to the east. Noe Valley enjoys some of San Francisco’s sunniest weather, but conditions tend to get foggier as the neighborhood climbs toward Diamond Heights.

What To Expect

The predominance of pretty, two-story Victorian homes with small backyards makes Noe Valley particularly attractive to young professionals with pets, as well as families with young children. Dogs, of course, are welcome just about everywhere.

Lifestyle

On weekends, residents are drawn to 24th Street, with its variety of ethnic restaurants, shoe shops, home furnishing boutiques, and day spas. Noe Valley has been vigilant about keeping out chain restaurants and name-brand stores to retain its unique neighborhood charm. The Noe Valley Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday year-round, so locals never have to leave the neighborhood to get their fix of fresh organic vegetables, fruit, and honey.

The Market

Noe Valley is primarily made up of single-family houses and a few multi-family buildings. Despite the occasional home remodel over the years, you can still find one of the largest collections of original Victorians in the city.

Art & Culture

24th Street is the main artery for art and culture in Noe Valley, lined with various galleries and craft stores.
